Wheat Germ Recipes

This pudding is especially for kids. Eating only healthy food makes Jack dull so binging sometimes is okay. But then wheat germ is such a food that it could be easily used in any dish be it cookies or cakes or muffins. Today I have tried making Pudding by adding wheat germ into it just to ensure that some nutrients are also going in the tummy of the kids along with tasty yummy.  So here is the recipe of Wheat Germ Chocolate Pudding.


  • 1 packet Digestive Biscuit (I have taken small pac)
  • 1 cup Harmony Wheat Germ
  • 2 tbsp Butter (you can use ghee as well)
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate Hazel nut Spread
  • 1/2 cup Cream
  • 1 cup thick custard

1)  Crush the digestive biscuits in powder in a bowl and add wheat germ and butter to it. Mix well. Set it in the mold and freeze it for 15 min.

2) After putting our biscuit base in freeze to set make a thick custard. Add 2 tbsp of custard powder to cold milk and mix and then add it to boiling 1 cup milk and stir continuously. Then add 3 tsp sugar to it. Refrigerate it as well.

3)  Once Biscuit base is set. Bring it out from the bowl and place it in a bowl.  Spread Custard over it evenly.

4) And then the most tempting thing. Mix Chocolate spread (I use nutrella) with cream to loosen it a bit and then spread it over custards.

5) Freeze it for 2 hours. Eat it chilled. Do not let it rest at room temperature for long as chocolate will melt.







Energy bars are very popular in the countries like US where people have started preferring to eat energy bars for their in-between meals instead of unhealthy junk food. The best thing about these energy bars is that one can customize it according to their preference.  Here is the recipe of Energy Bar which is very good source of first class protein with the presence of all the essential amino acids.


1 cup Oats

one can also use rice cereals, museli.

1 cup Harmony Wheat Germ

1 cup Dry Fruits which include Apricots, Raisins, Cashew Nuts, Almonds, Walnuts, and Dates (one can add whichever dry fruits preferred)

3 Tbsp Peanut Butter

2 tsp Honey

one can also use Jaggery or Brown Sugar as well. But I prefer less sugar so added only Peanut Butter and Honey.

1) Assemble all the ingredients at one place. Because once you start cooking there  will be no time to run around to collect the stuffs.

2) Chop all the dry fruits like Apricot, Dates, Raisins, cashew and coarsely grind Almond.

3) Take a non-stick bowl and add Peanut Butter and Honey into it and set it on flame. Stir it continuously till the Peanut Butter melts and bubbles start coming up.

4) Now quickly add Oats, Wheat Germ and all the dry fruits and mix it thoroughly and fast.

5) Once everything is mixed put it into a plate and set it. Use your fingers to press it. Then with help of a knife cut slightly it into your preferred size so that later it comes out neat and then refrigerate it for an hour or two.

Regarding storing I prefer to keep them in fridge. But one can also store in air tight container as well.



Mathri or mathis or sawali, papri, as it is known by many names in different states of North India, is a regular snack item in many families with tea, sometimes also accompanied in lunch boxes of children, while traveling etc. Well I remember eating it with aam ka aachar. But with growing health awareness, the popularity of Mathri was reduced a lot due to the use of refine wheat flour or maida in it.

1/2 cup Maida (optional)

1 cup Whole Wheat Flour or Atta

1 cup Harmony Wheat Germ

1/4 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)

1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)

1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)

1 tsp chilli powder (mirchi)

1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper (kalimirch)

2 tsp methi patta

1 tbsp melted ghee

salt to taste

1 Take Maida, Atta and Wheat Germ in a bowl.

2 Add all the above listed spices and mix them well.

3 Make a tight dough with lukewarm water.

4 Keep aside for 5 mins and start rolling out small mathris.

5 Prick the mathri equally all over with a fork. This is done so that it does not swell into a puri.

6 Deep fry it in oil at medium flame. Deep Fry is also not consider to be healthy. So you can try Air Fryer.

Things to keep in mind

Since the dough has wheat germ, roll out mathri after 5 mins or so. Or else the dough will moisten. Also wheat germ gets burned very quickly. So make sure to cook at medium flame and not for long. Otherwise the mathri will burn.

Use of Maida is optional. One can avoid it as well. I’ll be soon posting only Atta Mathari soon of course with Wheat Germ as well. Wheat Germ is our main source of all types of nutrients in the recipe.

These Whole wheat masala mathris might not taste exactly  like maida mathri but former is far more healthy than the latter and also nutritious due to the presence of Wheat Germ.

  • 20-25 Marie biscuits
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup roasted nut of choice (I used Cashew Nuts)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 of a 400gm tin condensed milk (I used low fat Milkmaid)
  • 1/2 cup Harmony Wheat Germ

1.  Coarsely crush marie biscuits into a small bit. Do not powder it.

2. Add icing sugar or powdered sugar to it.

3. This is the favorite ingredient of children: Cocoa powder, add and mix well.

4. Then add roasted cashew nuts. You can use any other nuts like Hazel nuts, almond, peanut etc. according to the taste.

5. This is the favorite ingredients of mums: Harmony Wheat Germ which ensures the addition of nutrients in the brownie. Mix it well.

6. Then add milkmaid or condensed milk to the mixture and stir is well so that it combines into a wet brownie batter.

7. Set it in a container and freezer it overnight.
